Cynthia Carr, Chair
Ms. Carr is an Epidemiologist and Health Policy Expert at EPI Research Inc., where her primary focus has been indigenous, northern, and rural equity in health outcomes and access to health services. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (Hons.), Master of Public Administration Health Policy, and Master of Science, Community Health and Epidemiology.
Austin Abas, Director
Mr. Abas is the Regional Managing Partner for KPMG’s Western Regions Practice, and the Managing Partner of the Winnipeg office. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) from the University of Manitoba. Austin also participates as a member of the Hospital’s Foundation Council.
Don MacDonald, Director, Past Chair
Mr. MacDonald is a lawyer at Pitblado Law, and holds a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) from the University of Manitoba. He feels a personal duty to help others whenever possible, and is generous with investing his time in the legal and volunteer community. Don is a past board chair of Seven Oaks General Hospital and also participates as a member of the Hospital’s Foundation Council.
Bev Mehmel, Director
Ms. Mehmel is a pioneer of social responsibility in the Canadian gaming field. Her leadership in Canada led to the creation of responsible gambling initiatives that are now standard practice worldwide. Her consulting business, ILLUMIND Consulting provides common sense strategy and advice on CSR and governance. Her education includes the University of Winnipeg, University of Manitoba, the Schulich School of Business and Cornell University. She holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors in Canada. Nick Slonosky, Director
Mr. Slonosky is a lawyer, educator, mentor, member of several not-for-profit boards, dedicated to helping others succeed, and a supporter of many causes. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) as well as a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Manitoba, and a Master of Science in Telecommunications from the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, University of Colorado at Boulder.
Colin Tirschmann, Director
Mr. Tirschmann is the Vice-President of Finance at CWB National Leasing, where he started as Controller in 2005. He has held senior accounting positions for over 20 years. Colin is also a member of the Finance and Administration Committee at the United Way of Winnipeg and a member of the Board of Trustees at Seven Oaks General Hospital, where he chairs the Stewardship Committee.
