With leadership that prioritizes innovation to improve patient care, Seven Oaks General Hospital established the Chronic Disease Innovation Centre (CDIC) in 2015. Backed with support and equipped with the resources and space needed to expand high-impact research, CDIC’s team of physician researchers had the foundation they needed to take on innovative and state-of-the-art novel research projects – research that works at the speed of business.
Over the years, CDIC has built a sustainable research infrastructure – from a small group of nephrologists with a core group of research personnel, into a robust team of five nephrology researchers, one nutrition researcher, over 25 research staff, and numerous trainees of all levels. Our team’s multidisciplinary skills are a unique advantage, with staff members trained in areas such as psychology, business, nutrition, statistics, and project management, along with clinical and medical expertise.
In November 2017, CDIC moved into a new, modern research space. Designed in the spirit of collaborative learning and the cultivation of ideas, and completed through the efforts of Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation, the new facility is wholly representative of the world-class research being conducted within its walls. CDIC has also developed flourishing collaborative networks with local, national, and international academics and industry partners.
As an independent non-profit corporation, CDIC provides a hub for clinicians and researchers to work together with business and industry partners, positively impacting everything from patient care to improving business operations.
A solid organization with a sustainable plan
In addition to partnering with private and public sector organizations, CDIC serves as the research arm for Seven Oaks General Hospital and the hospital’s Wellness Institute. CDIC functions as an independent and privately funded non-profit corporation whose revenue is reinvested back into research and innovation activities that improve patient care and healthcare delivery.
